What is fear?

Fear is one of the most powerful emotions that impact our mind and body.

Fear is a strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger, for instance, if we are caught in a fire or are being attacked by animal.  It can also be from going to a job interview, public speaking or even going on a new date.

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a type of fear. Anxiety is described as worry and fear is described as nagging over time. It is describing as persistent fear.

Fear and anxiety can be short-term, or it can be long-term if we get stuck with this strong emotion.

We will start to notice that it is affecting our ability to sleep, enjoy life and simply just being happy. Our mind is constantly feeling nervous and anxious all the time, and it wear us down. It also affects our health. You might feel dizzy, feel frozen to the spot and you cannot eat.

F.E.A.R. (False Evidence Appearing Real) – It is a natural response to a threat that can be either perceived or real.  Our mind does not know the difference.

It can be hard to break this cycle, but there are lots of ways to do it.

We can learn to be friends with fear, so it does not stop us from loving fully.

3 things that we can do to make friend with FEAR:

1.     Face your fear little by little with proper support

My son used to be fearful of water because he had a drowning experience when he was 3 years old. He does not even want to step into the shallow kids swimming pool, despite knowing that he can stand in the pool. The fear is way too great for him to face by himself. It took a lot of time and effort to help him to overcome the fear of water, but he can now swim like a dragon in the water! How did he do it? We supported and exposed him to his fear, little by little, until he fully overcome his fear. It is a wonderful process to witness how a little boy overcome his biggest fear thus far.

2.     Be gentle with yourself

Sometimes, it is hard to break a circle. Be patient and be gentle with yourself. Try to understand and learn the progress, and when it happens, how are you facing your fears each time. Baby steps are worthy for celebrations. Remember to address the belief that you can overcome your fear one day.

3.     Have a cup of lovely warm Ceremonial cacao

Cacao can help us to feel safe and supported so that we can dive into the blissful and expansive feeling in life.
